Not even that doing what that video recommended worked- the game starts to boot up doing the whole black-windows thing and then crashes a couple seconds later at most. Already posted on the TTW forums asking if it'll be an issue or if TTW will be able to run even if FO3 refuses to. Not to resurrect a possibly dead thread, but I'm having the same issue as OP and I've yet to find a solution- only thing I haven't tried is downloading the mods linked earlier in the thread because I want to try the Tale of Two Wastelands mod and one of the requirements is that both games are completely unmodded before installing TTW and I'm unsure if I'll be able to run TTW with FO3 refusing to run. Whether you like playing with mods or not, enjoy :) NOTE: While this allows Fallout3 to work, it does not let you use mods.ĪNOTHER NOTE: Any google'd articles about setting the fallout3 executable to run as administrator or in compatibility mode ( I'm looking at you Bethesda ) will not work (at least in my case). Also, I'm guessing why some people are just able to launch fallout3 and it just work is due to them having a compatible integrated graphics chip, my mobo doesn't. It's like the Intel bypass mod [but the non-mod way of doing it. My best guess as to why this works is that when you add and set a preference for fallout3 in windows or nvidia, it tells fallout3 to use your specified graphics card instead of the default / integrated graphics chip. Add Fallout3.exe to the nvidia or windows graphic settings to force it to use your graphics card instead of.whatever else. TL:DR up front: Fallout 3 looks to be dumb or missing some library so it can't use your graphics card unless told about it. Win 10/11 directions (for immediate crash to desktop issue)
